Male Victim Rape Abstract This research paper is based on individual case study related to “Male Rape Victims.” Male rape is a crime of forcing another person to submit to sex acts, especially sexual intercourse (LongMan Dictionary, p1169). In general, male rape has occurred as often as every year from the age of twelve and above.
Applying research findings from female victims to male victims may lead to damaging behaviors that are harmful to male rape survivors following the assault and in the long term. Furthermore, it should be explored further if the gender of the listener has a role in the underreporting of male sexual violence.This study was invoked following the observation of a male rape case at the local crown court as part of training for CRASAC (Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre), and aims to review the psychological effects of male rape as a relevant topic for research.In a male-dominated culture, men do not want to accept their role as victims.Download file to see previous pages The victims are also required to process the rape and the possible experiences they may face after the ordeal with their formal and informal providers of support. Second, observations made from evaluating therapeutic techniques show that cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) can work quite well in the reduction of the short term post rape anxiety and fear.
